New Orleans Event Photography was first established in 1983 under the studio brand The Portrait Gallery in New Orleans by Wade and Yvette Ponthier. Their main focus was photographing family portraits. By 1987, Wade and Yvette had expanded The Portrait Gallery to six locations in southern Louisiana. Some studios were operated independently while other studio locations operated in a prominent department store chain. After a couple of years, they sold the department store chain studios, and elected to concentrate on their growing convention and corporate client base.

Now in business for 36 years, the Ponthiers’ continue to operate a state of the art studio in New Orleans as The Portrait Gallery. They continue to focus on corporate and convention events under the brand of New Orleans Event Photography.

Wade and Yvette both hold the distinguished degree of Photographic Craftsman and are Certified Professional Photographers, a designation of the Professional Photographers of America which is only achieved by less than 4% of photographers worldwide.

 

The Ponthiers’ are very active with several Professional, Civic, and Church organizations throughout Louisiana. Wade and Yvette both served as past Presidents of the Louisiana Association of Professional Photographers, and Wade served on the Executive Board of the Southwest Association of Professional Photographers and currently serves on the governing council of the Professional Photographers of America.
